Who We Are

The name American Scroll comes from a style of scrollwork made popular in the mid to late 1800’s, most often seen on firearms.

German immigrants with names like Nimschke, Ulrich and Helfricth developed a style of scroll that is rich, flowing and pleasing to the eye and is still in use to this day!

Most of the graphics used on our apparel are based on this historic style.

The designer behind American Scroll Inc. is Weldon Lister, a third generation Master engraver who learned the art of hammer & chisel embellishment from his father, Big Bill Lister.

Weldon has been engraving fine firearms and collectibles since 1979 and uses his decades of design and engraving expertise as inspiration on each image used by American Scroll®.

Weldon’s son Billy is the graphic artist/designer who takes Weldon’s hand drawn original engraving designs from paper into the digital world, creating the artwork for our clothing line.
